Welcome...

Thank you to all those businesses who took the time to meet with us to discuss the future for city centre management in Oxford and the issues that it should be addressing.

There is still time for you to submit your comments by email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or in writing to us at Clarendon House in Cornmarket Street.

We are currently in negotiation with both the City and the County Council as to whether they will provide funding for OX1 next year (i.e. from April 2009).  We have been asked to provide evidence that businesses are supportive of an independent organisation in Oxford, working on their behalf.  It has been stated that apathy from businesses will be taken as a lack of support.

We feel that we can provide significant benefit to businesses given the opportunity.  The value of city centre management can be seen in locations all over the country.  Some of the projects that we are working on at the moment include:

  • The provision of free waste audits to support businesses in reducing their waste costs;
  • A two-day food event in the Covered Market, supporting local food producers and restaurants;
  • The creation of a Pubwatch banning scheme;
  • A Christmas retail promotion for the first three Saturdays in December.

Now is the time to demonstrate your support.
